Renal Vasculitis

Blood Vessels Inflammation

Blood Sample

Inflammation of blood vessels that causes changes in its wall is called Vasculitis. Renal vasculitis is an autoimmune disease that causes your white blood cells to attack tiny blood vessels that filter blood in your kidneys called glomeruli. This causes swelling and damage to the capillaries (blood vessels). When the glomeruli can’t filter the blood, protein and blood leak into the urine, which can lead to loss of kidney function or kidney failure in severe cases. Dr Mahmood is a member of Australia and New Zealand Society of Vasculitis (ANZVASC) and is actively involved in providing up-to-date evidence-based care to these patients.
